Aufbruch
Urban quality with a wide range of potential uses
In the Aufbruch project, the existing single-storey building is retained and serves as the base for the new residential development. Three free-standing residential buildings rise above the plinth, which is used as a city terrace, and feature urban qualities with their surrounding arcades and a steel structure placed in front of the timber construction. A serial construction system consisting of a visible timber frame construction with ribbed ceilings was used here. Due to fire safety considerations, the surrounding balconies were made of a non-combustible material, so that the building is not immediately recognisable as a timber construction. The urban character of the project is recognised with a differentiated range of uses in the public plinth, on the city terrace and in the three residential towers with an open-use approach.
