Neuer Bildungscampus Wien
Staggered building structure with good exposure
The school building extension consists of the new school building and the gymnasium located at right angles to it to the south. The two buildings are only connected on the first floor by a connecting wing with cloakrooms. The height of the buildings decreases towards the south, which ensures good exposure for the schoolyard and the existing classrooms. The design of the façades is differentiated in line with the respective functions. Vertical wooden louvres provide shade and create a coherent, harmonious impression. The construction is well dimensioned, the superstructures well thought out. Statically, however, there is a change in the type of construction from a beamed ceiling above the ground floor to a solid timber construction, something that does not work without further consideration.
