The submitted projects will be evaluated by the jury in a two-step process.  
One winning project and two mentions will be awarded for each of the three project sites.

Evaluation criteria 

  • Architectural quality, interaction with the surrounding urban fabric
  • Quality of spatial use and floor plans (areas, function, lighting, etc.)
  • Functionality of the construction and timber solution
  • Economical and rational use of resources

Mag. arch. Sandra Gnigler
Chair of the Jury

mia2 Architektur, Linz AT

After completing her architecture studies at the University of Art and Design Linz, Sandra Gnigler worked in various studios in Vienna and Linz. In 2010, she began collaborating with Gunar Wilhelm, and in 2013, they founded their joint architecture studio mia2 Architektur in Linz. One focus of their work is on building extensions to existing structures, with particular attention paid to structural solutions, sensitive handling of cultural heritage, and the suitability and use of materials. The sustainable material wood is used in various projects. The work has been recognised with numerous awards, including a mention at the Upper Austria Timber Construction Award 2025 in the category of renovations, extensions and refurbishments. Sandra Gnigler is a lecturer at the University of Art and Design in Linz and is represented on various advisory boards, award juries and expert juries.

Dipl.-Ing. Kurt Pock
Civil structural engineer, Klagenfurt AT

Kurt Pock is the founder and owner of the engineering office KPZT in Klagenfurt. After graduating as a civil engineer from the Graz University of Technology, he worked as a structural engineer and designer for a timber construction company in Lienz and has been a structural engineer since 1999. His particular enthusiasm is for those projects that require the universally-minded engineer. Kurt Pock is a lecturer at the Carinthian University of Applied Sciences and he is transferring his knowledge in the master's course for timber construction culture überholz at the University of Art in Linz and at the summer university at the Vienna University of Technology. Kurt Pock is co-author of the books Cross-Laminated Timber Structural Design Volume I and Volume II.

Ing. Christof Weissenseer
Weissenseer Holz-System-Bau, Greifenburg AT

After completing A-Levels from the Höhere Technische Lehranstalt, he took the master craftsman's examination, spent a year working in the USA and Canada, and studied business administration for 4 semesters while working. Christof Weissenseer is a master woodworker, creative thinker and woodwork advisor. 1997 took over the carpentry business founded by his grandfather, 2000 founded Weissenseer Holz-System-Bau GmbH. Since 2016 CEO and owner of Weissenseer Germany in Berlin, since 2017 of Weissenseer JV Ost in Austria and since 2018 of Weissenseer Kazakhstan, 2020 foundation of Weissenseer 26 PB in Berlin for Main Contractor Projects, 2021 co-founder of Boxxes GmbH for the prefabrication of sanitary modules, also numerous project development endeavours.

Dipl.-Ing. Sylvia Polleres
Holzforschung Austria, Wien AT

Sylvia Polleres graduated in wood economics from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna and has been a research assistant since 2000, head of the timber house construction department since 2008 and deputy managing director of Holzforschung Austria since 2024. Lecturer on the master's programme  for timber construction culture überholz at the University of Art and Design in Linz and on the master's programme in timber construction for architects at Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences and at the school for wood technology at the Bauakademie Steiermark. In addition to her numerous lectures, Sylvia Polleres is a member of various advisory boards, award committees and expert jury panels.
